I am a proud graduate of James Island High School. Following graduation I attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where I earned a BA in journalism. After working for two years with a public relations firm, I returned to USC to complete my major in English. (I was only two classes shy, but I took five courses exploring different paths for a master's degree.) My calling was to become a teacher so I entered the master's program at The Citadel, where I earned my MAT in education with a focus in English. While in graduate school, I worked at the College of Charleston's writing lab. My first teaching position was at Wando High School, where I taught journalism, CP English II, and CP English IV. I then joined an executive education firm; yet, the call of teaching prompted me to apply at Johnson & Wales College. I was accepted as an adjunct instructor for their freshmen composition classes. Now I am at James Island Charter High School, where I am currently teaching IB III and CP IV. My interests include the Renaissance, Italy, British literature, and writing.
